Jane and Alex married on Saturday, April 27th in their downtown Chicago wedding at the South Shore Cultural Center.
Their wedding day was unique and whimsical, including the 2 inches of snow on the ground. In April.
The happy couple fell in love with the South Shore Cultural Center’s elegance and old style feel. They loved that this was a public-owned venue and the location where the Obamas were married in 1992.
The morning of the wedding, I met Jane at the S Michigan Hilton Hotel where she got ready with her bridesmaids which included her sister, Alex’s sister, childhood soulmates and best friends.
Pin Me Up Chicago serviced the entire bridal party with hair and makeup while I had the joy of capturing memories of the girls getting ready upstairs. Meanwhile, the men were stationed in the venue’s library straightening their ties and swapping gifts.
Jane wore a cream, linen floral print Kate McDonald Bridal gown and cared the most beautiful bouquet from Bloominous of vibrant wildflowers. When I asked these two to describe their wedding day in three words they said, “Fun, sweet, par-tay!“.
One of my favorite parts was Alex’s little sister read The Human Family, a poem written by Maya Angelou that encapsulated the entire day as these two families became one.
Alex and Jane were surrounded by loved ones from Germany, Turkey, The Netherlands, the East coast and beyond on their special day.
Jane and Alex, you both make me so happy. Before meeting you and your friends, I thought being surrounded in a room filled with a dozen lawyers would be intimidating. And it is. But you also make it joyful and happy. I love you both so much and cannot wait to see what love and genius you put into this world, together.
